Generosity in Ramadhan

Post by muslimah-mom-friend on Sat Aug 06, 2011 7:52 am

Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) was the most generous of people
in charity, but he was even more generous in the month of Ramadan. Angel
Gabriel (peace be upon him) used to meet him every year during the month of
Ramadan until it ended, so that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him)
could recite the Qur’an to him; and when Gabriel met Allah’s
Messenger (may peace be upon him) he was more generous in giving charity than
the blowing wind.

Fw:

Ramadan is the month of giving! Many will remind us to make
'giving' a habit during this holy month, as we watch our
rewards multiply, by His will.

Giving comes in all types and forms, most common in Ramadan
are neighbours sharing their food with one another. Sometimes
though, one needs to give of his time, while others have to
dig deeper and give of that which they really love.

So what have you given so far?

But, hold on, hold on! You're giving it all for the sake of Allah
- Him alone, right? Unfortunately there are still those of us who
give, yet deep down expect something in return. At times, we even
flaunt what we've given, and keep rubbing it in their faces.

...and that is what Allah swt ordered us NOT to do.

What will you give today, expecting only Allah's reward in return?
